Update

The Observatory can accommodate up to 9 people in two dormitories, you need to bring your own sleeping bags and it is self-catering. As well as Birdwatchers, we welcome people from many areas of interest including Moths, Butterflies, Bugs and Beetles or just a general interest in Nature and the local environment. Please forward any Dungeness recording area records to the Warden.

21st May

The obvious highlight of the day was a male Red-breasted Flycatcher which spent all its time in a patch of willows in the moat and frequently singing. It was also pleasing to note that at least 13 Spotted Flycatchers arrived along with two Willow Warblers, a Whinchat and 24 Corn Buntings. A Little Ringed Plover also flew over.

Four Porpoise were feeding offshore and a Brown Hare was seen on the land.

Elsewhere, a Black-winged Stilt was reported from the RSPB Reserve.
