Sightings July 2001
3rd Two Manx Shearwaters flew east and a Mediterranean Gull at the Patch.
4th The most unusual record for a few days involved a party of six Pomarine Skua heading east at 1955hrs. A Little Ringed Plover also flew over and four Mediterranean Gulls were at the Patch.
5th Two Mediterranean Gulls at the Patch.
6th The local pair of Kestrels fledged four young today. One Mediterranean Gull at the Patch.
7th One Mediterranean Gull at the Patch.
8th Miserable weather produced a westerly movement of at least 167 Manx Shearwater along with an Arctic Skua and 90 Sandwich Tern. Two Mediterranean Gulls were also seen.
9th Two Mediterranean and four Yellow-legged Gulls at the Patch.
10th One Manx Shearwater flew west and one Mediterranean Gull was at the Patch.
11th Two Mediterranean Gulls at the Patch.
12th Thirty-nine Manx Shearwaters and a Great Skua flew west in 150 minutes during the morning.
13th Five Manx Shearwaters flew west.
14th Two Manx Shearwaters and two Arctic Skuas flew west. One Mediterranean Gull at the Patch.
15th Three Mediterranean Gulls at the Patch.
16th Four Mediterranean Gulls at the Patch include a colour-ringed juvenile. A migrant Sedge Warbler was found in the moat and 75 Sand Martins passed through.
17th Eighteen Manx Shearwaters and 432 Common Scoters passed by during eight hours of seawatching and nine Mediterranean Gulls at the Patch included two juveniles. An adult Little Gull and seven Yellow-legged Gulls were also present.
18th A total of 25 Manx Shearwaters flew west at sea.

19th There were six Mediterranean Gulls and a Black Tern at the Patch. Two Manx Shearwaters flew east.
20th A Black Tern at the Patch.
21st A Roseate Tern and two Black Terns were feeding offshore. Two Manx Shearwaters flew west and an Arctic Skua flew east. There were also three juvenile Mediterranean Gulls at the Patch.
22nd There were three Mediterranean Gulls, eight Yellow-legged Gulls and a Black Tern at the Patch. 135 Sand Martins also passed through.

Grey Seal x 1.

23rd A second-summer Pontic Gull was seen at the Patch.

Bottle-nosed Dolphin x 2.

24th The Pontic Gull was seen again.
25th A new Pontic Gull, this time a second-winter bird, was seen at the Patch along with 16 Yellow-legged Gulls.
27th Three Willow Warblers in the bushes and a juvenile Shag at the Patch.
28th Eight Willow Warblers in the bushes.
31st The first reasonable arrival of Willow Warblers occurred with at least 20 birds in the area.
