1st A light south-easterly wind for most of the day induced a small movement of terns with 19 Little Terns and ten Black Terns of note along with an Arctic Skua. Two juvenile Mediterranean Gulls and three Yellow-legged Gulls were also seen.

There was also another arrival of Willow Warblers with 40 being seen whilst other grounded migrants included two Sedge Warbler. Overhead 300 Swifts, 600 Sand Martins and 10 Yellow Wagtails passed through.

2nd There was another decent arrival of early migrants with two Green Sandpipers and two Common Sandpipers at the Long Pits and a Grasshopper Warbler, a Garden Warbler and 72 Willow Warblers in the bushes whilst overhead, a Merlin, a Tree Pipit and 24 Yellow Wagtails passed through.
3rd Willow Warblers continue to arrive in decent numbers with at 66 being seen whilst other migrants included a Hobby, a Greenshank, three Green Sandpipers, a young Cuckoo, 190 Swifts, 1800 Sand Martins, 12 Yellow Wagtails and a Garden Warbler.

4th Most of the days interest was overhead where a huge numbers of Swifts passed through in the late afternoon/evening. During the day another 400 Sand Martins and six Yellow Wagtails also passed through and single Marsh Harrier and Hobby were feeding over the area.

There were a few grounded migrants including two Garden Warblers and 35 Willow Warblers.

The sea was very quiet and currently there isn't a Patch to attract feeding terns and gulls.

5th Conditions felt perfect for a decent arrival of early autumn migrants but in the event very little happened. Just a Garden Warbler and 16 Willow Warblers were seen in the bushes and five Common Sandpipers and a Kingfisher were of note at the Long Pits.

Offshore, a Balearic Shearwater and a flock of 45 Teal flew west.

6th A decent arrival of birds into the bushes with good numbers of Whitethroats and Willow Warblers along with seven migrant Reed Warblers, a Sedge Warbler and two Garden Warblers. The highlight of the day was overhead though with a Honey Buzzard flying east and out to sea at 1020hrs. A Green Sandpiper and 430 Swifts also flew over.
7th Another decent arrival of birds into the bushes with good numbers of Whitethroats and a few Willow Warblers along with four migrant Reed Warblers and a Sedge Warbler and also a Pied Flycatcher on the power station fence near the Patch. A Spotted Redshank, a Green Sandpiper, 40 Swifts, 10 Yellow Wagtails and a Grey Wagtail flew over.
8th The highlight of the day was a Honey Buzzard which came in off the sea at 1015hrs at the Power Station, and then lingered over the area for about 15 minutes before heading off eastwards. A Crossbill along with a Marsh Harrier and 12 Yellow Wagtails also flew over. Grounded migrants included seven Reed Warblers, two Sedge Warblers, a Garden Warbler and 40 Willow Warblers
9th Migrants continue to pass through in small numbers with two Redstarts and a Whinchat of note along with 20 Yellow Wagtails and 50 Willow Warblers.

Three Yellow-legged Gulls were seen at the fishing boats.

10th Two Redstarts, a Whinchat and 12 Lesser Whitethroats were the highlights of a fairly quiet day.
11th Another fairly quiet day with the highlights being three Hobbies, a Whinchat and 12 Lesser Whitethroats.
12th Another quiet day with just a Garden Warbler, eight Lesser Whitethroats and 29 Willow Warblers in the bushes whilst overhead, a Marsh Harrier, a Redshank and a Tree Pipit passed through.
13th A Black Tern was seen at the Patch and two Garden Warblers were seen in the bushes.
14th The birds of the day were two Ravens which flew over the area. A small arrival of grounded migrants included two Garden Warblers and 70 Willow Warblers and a Spotted Redshank flew west.
15th A Hobby flew over and a Black Tern was seen at the Patch.

Also of note, a Great White Egret was seen at Dengemarsh.

16th Seawatching produced a Sooty Shearwater, two Little Ringed Plovers, a Greenshank and three Black Terns, all flying west. Two Tree Pipits flew over the area and three Garden Warblers were seen in the bushes.

The Great White Egret was seen again at Dengemarsh.

17th Two Snipe, two Yellow-legged Gulls, a Turtle Dove and a Whinchat were of note on an otherwise quiet day.

18th A Grey Wagtail flew over and 50 Willow Warblers were seen on the land.

19th The highlight of the day were five Common Buzzards which flew over the area in the afternoon. A Greenshank was also seen.

20th A very quiet day with a single Hobby and 40 Yellow Wagtails passing overhead and just one Garden Warbler of note in the bushes.

21st Very limited coverage produced just two Peregrine Falcons and 10 Yellow Wagtails.
22nd A reasonable crop of migrants with two Redstarts, 12 Lesser Whitethroats, a Garden Warbler, 52 Willow Warblers and a Spotted Flycatcher in the bushes and 25 Yellow Wagtails passing overhead.

The Great White Egret was still present at Dengemarsh.

23rd Most of the interest was at sea during the early morning when 412 Gannets, seven Teal, five Shovelers, a Grey Plover, seven Whimbrel, seven Arctic Skuas, a Little Gull, a Roseate Tern and five Black Terns flew west. Six Mediterranean Gulls were also feeding offshore in the early evening.

Two Marsh Harriers flew over but it was very quiet in the bushes.

24th An Arctic Skua flew west and a Great Skua flew east and two Mediterranean Gulls and two Little Gulls were feeding offshore.

Very quiet on the land with just two Whinchats of note.

25th A scattering of migrants in the bushes included a Whinchat, 37 Willow Warblers and a Spotted Flycatcher whilst overhead, seven Whimbrels, two Redshanks, 280 Sand Martins, 90 Swallows, 19 Yellow Wagtails and a Grey Wagtail passed through.

There was very little movement offshore with just one Arctic Skua flying east and a trickle of Gannets flying west in the morning. A juvenile Mediterranean Gull was feeding offshore.

26th The only birds of interest on the land were two Ravens which spent about 20 minutes around the pylons this morning.

Two Little Gulls and a juvenile Mediterranean Gull were feeding offshore.

27th A trickle of birds moving west offshore this morning included 282 Gannets, a Green Sandpiper, three Arctic Skuas, four Black Terns and a Roseate Tern whilst single Mediterranean Gull and Little Gull were feeding offshore. Three juvenile Arctic Terns were also feeding at the Patch.

28th A very quiet day in strong westerly winds. Seawatching produced singles of Arctic Skua and Black Tern and there were signs of a movement of Common Terns in the evening. Two Yellow-legged Gulls were also loafing around the fishing boats.

29th A brief drop in the wind strength resulted in a reasonable arrival of migrants into the bushes with two Redstarts, eight Lesser Whitethroats, three Garden Warblers, 60 Willow Warblers and three Spotted Flycatchers whilst three Marsh Harriers also flew over.

The sea was relatively quiet again although 21 Redshanks, an Arctic Skua and seven Black Terns were seen along with two juvenile Mediterranean Gulls and two Yellow-legged Gulls feeding off the fishing boats.

30th The birds of the day were two Ospreys (one of which spent some time fishing at the Long Pits) which flew south over the area and out to sea during the morning. There was also a good scattering migrants including a Redstart, three Sedge Warblers, 34 Willow Warblers and three Spotted Flycatchers whilst a Marsh Harrier, four Tree Pipits and six Grey Wagtails flew over.

There were four Black Terns and a Little Gull at the Patch and three Yellow-legged Gulls at the fishing boats.

The Great White Egret was still at Dengemarsh.

31st A disappointing day especially given the weather conditions with very few migrants on the land and with four Grey Wagtails and a Grasshopper Warbler of note.

Also very quiet offshore with just two Arctic Skuas seen.
