6th Surprisingly quiet given the current cold weather with just two Woodcocks in the trapping area and seven Pochard and three Grey Plover flying south offshore. The Glaucous Gull was still at the fishing boats.
5th Heavy snow throughout the night and freezing temperatures all day produced a small cold-weather movement with a Grey Heron, three Snipe, two Woodcock and five Song Thrushes of interest. A Chiffchaff was seen at the north end of the Long Pits and a Firecrest was seen in the trapping area. A brief look at the sea in the morning produced very little.
4th Not a great deal to report. A few Wigeon flew west and large numbers of auks were offshore again. An adult Mediterranean Gull flew east and the Glaucous Gull was seen again.
3rd A nice but very cold day but fairly quiet for birds. Around 400 Red-throated Divers flew east during the morning and the Glaucous Gull was still present. A Firecrest was seen in the trapping area and a Raven was heard.
2nd Another very cold day with a near-gale north-easterly wind for much of the day. A Great Skua flew by and plenty of Great Crested Grebes and auks offshore and the Glaucous Gull was still present.
1st Another very cold day but clear and with no snow and just a trickle of birds moving through offshore. A few ducks were seen including 85 Wigeon, 35 Teal, five Pintail and a Pochard. Good numbers of both Guillemot and Razorbill were feeding offshore again and an adult Mediterranean Gull was also seen. The Glaucous Gull was seen again.
